60SiCr7 Spring Steel

60SiCr7 Spring Steel

Spring steel DIN 17221 60SiCr7 is a kind of pre-hardened material well suited for fabrication requiring shaping by blanking, bending, drawing, extrusion and swaging. Spring steel DIN 17221 60SiCr7 allows for closer dimensional tolerances and improved finish and available in several grades. Grade selection is important when considering higher levels of wear resistance.

DIN 17221 60SiCr7 spring steels are mainly used for the manufacture of railway rolling stock, cars and tractors on the leaf spring and coil spring, the safety valve spring, shock absorber on a variety of heavy machinery, instrument springs, friction plate.

Applications

60SI2MN steels, Highlight the advantage is good hardenability, another hot working performance, comprehensive mechanical properties,

Decarburization resistance is also good big cross section of various important spring, such as automobile, locomotive, large plate spring, spring, etc. 60SI2MN Spring main used for heavy vehicles, tractors, industrial production load, stress and the diameter of the larger plate spring and helical spring.

Heat treatment Related

  • Annealing of 60SI2MN Spring Steel

Slowly heated to 740-770 ℃ and allow enough times, let the steel to be thoroughly heated, Then cool slowly in the furnace. The 60SI2MN tool  steel will get MAX 250 HB (Brinell hardness).

  • Hardening of 60SI2MN Spring Steel

60SI2MN steels should be heated uniformly to 830-860°C (1526-1580°F) until completely heated through. About 30 min per 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in oil. Get Hardness 61 Min.

  • Tempering of 60SI2MN Spring Steel

Tempering of 60SI2MN steels is performed at 480-530°C, Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25mm of total thickness. Hardness values at different temperatures after tempering HRC: 150°C-61HRc,200°C-60HRC,300°C-56HRC,400°C-51HRC,500°C-43HRC,550°C-38HRC,600°C-33HRC,650°C-29HRC.
